Introducing the Mr Slobberchops Tick Key

There are a few ways in which to remove those pesky, powerful little ticks.

The most common way which most of you will know is with a tick twister!

However, we have taken to using a tick key and here is why…..

Many moons ago whilst working alongside a wonderful vet we had the’ tick chat’, as we had found some on a horse that had come to us in Florida. Fleas and ticks of different varieties were extremely rife in the muggy extreme heat there.

Way back then most people would put dish soap, alcohol,  Vaseline and many other products on the ticks to suffocate them, this leaving them weaker and easier to pull them out.

We now know that adding anything onto the tick can cause them to release their bodily fluids into the animal and thus leaves them potentially open to disease.

People then moved onto twisting the tick to pull them out! However, in this discussion the vet believed that twisting the tick had the same effect and that this was not something he advocated.

Now the tick twisters are still widely recommended, and sold in many vets’ practices. But we sat and pondered on this vets theory of the twisting having the same impact as Vaseline and it totally hit our logic buttons and so in 1993 we started using a Tick Key.

Along side the layered approach to natural prevention by using the Mr Slobberchops Don’t Bug Me In food Powder, spray, collars etc we have added the Tick key to our keyrings so it is always with us, just in case!

Having used natural prevention for many years we have barely had to use the tick key on our dogs, Tami has mostly used on others and her pony which lives out all year round with many deer free roaming the 50 acres she is on.

Another good reason to use a key is for those with poor or changed dexterity such as Arthritis, MS, brain injury where twisting may be difficult etc.

Using a Mr Slobberchops Tick Key couldn’t be simpler. Slide the key over the tick and pull straight in a forward motion and the whole tick comes out barely touching it, it’s so fast and complete that the tick is completely unaware.

Tami had once had to remove a pesky tick from a friend’s wriggly spaniel puppy who had one right over her eye. The tick was small and just came out in a jiffy, by the time the dog realized it was over!

We all think Mr Slobberchops Tick Key is a marvellous and handy little tool, but then we are biased!
